Mission

To allow every interested child on the Port Madison Indian Reservation and the surrounding community the opportunity to learn Native American horsemanship methods and be involved with horses, without regard to their ability to pay.
Organizational Background

We began our program as a volunteer effort in 1998, allowing children on the Port Madison Indian Reservation the chance to learn about traditional native horse training, and the chance to interact with horses on a daily basis.  This program soon became so popular that we became a tribal youth program in 1999, operating through the Suquamish Indian Tribe until 2004.

We offer classes in horsemanship, including foal training, and the chance for interested youth to participate in our breeding program by helping to foal out mares and imprint foals.  We have also worked with counselors at various local mental health agencies, using horses to reach youth suffering from grief and loss issues.

If you have specific questions about our program, please send an email to us at lynne@nativehorsemanship.org
